Every kind of music is good, except the boring kind. — Rossini

This is far from the "worst"; just strange, even if it is supposed to be a "lifeboat".

That is the Padstow Lifeboat, it serves Cornwall.  Not like an emergency rowboat on a ship, but like the coast guard instead.

So the thing depicted on the CD cover is literally one of the things mentioned in writing on the CD cover.

Not strange at all then!

The Padstow Lifeboat was composed in 1967 for the launching of a new lifeboat station in Cornwall

Malcolm Arnold wrote. "The Padstow Lifeboat has a long, heroic and distinguished record. The new lifeboat station is near Trevose lighthouse, whose foghorn varies in pitch between Middle C and D. For the sake of musical unity it remains D throughout this march."

1967: Arranged for Wind Band by Ray Woodfield

2000: Arranged for Orchestra by Philip Lane – Opus 94a

Duration: 5 minutes

Publisher: Studio Music

1967: The first public performance was by the Black Dyke Mills Band at the Royal Festival Hall, London, conducted by Sir Malcolm Arnold

I will admit that Jim Post was a neighbor of mine for a short time, and I missed that he passed just this fall. He was a folk singer from the 60's and 70's.

His album I Love My Life is widely considered terrible cover art, but he was a generous and kind man that didn't let the humorous jabs bother him.

I first met him at a concert of the Charlie Daniels Band, where the band invited Post up on stage to perform with them (he was in the audience). They obviously had great respect for him, since they mentioned him throughout the concert.

He spent his later years doing one-man shows as Mark Twain in the unglaciated region of the US Midwest around Galena, Illinois, where my kids and I saw him perform many times. He was great and had a terrific moustache!

I last saw him at the Best Buy trying to figure out computers. He was hilarious dealing with the Best Buy associate, who woefully tried to explain everything to him, all the while Post leaning into his eccentricities. His personality was larger than life.

Sorry for the ramble and remembrances, but I was caught off guard about his death, which I missed.

RIP Jim Post and your cover art.

Based on the discussion of Beauty Farm in the New Releases thread, here is my personal vote for the worst of the Beauty Farm series:

The universe is change; life is opinion. - Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

People would rather believe than know - E.O. Wilson

I'm surprised that nobody bothered to post this here yet. (I'm making it small to save everyone's eyes. It is possible to click the picture to make it bigger.)

That series of CDs by Beauty Farm isn't getting any better, is it.

I think there are worse in the Beauty Farm catalog.
But it's hard to say...the Beauty Farm catalog is IMO (ironically  :P ) practically the mother lode of bad-looking cover art.

Absolutely. The entire series is a treasure trove of "What?".
