I started playing these a week ago and now I am an addict! It seems that some are either way to easy or to hard for me. The basic stradegy is simple, but is there anything I am missing? Heres a website to do them online

The basic strategy is simple for easy ones because you can use elimination to fill in each cell, but the harder ones can only be solved by smart guessing (though they still have unique solutions) and more sophisticated strategies that go beyond the easy games!

I think that solving the strategy (a meta pursuit) is more interesting than solving the puzzles themselves.  But it's still pretty fun to play.

For an offline game-- ksudoku on linux is neat.  You can toggle different difficulty levels, you can toggle different forms of symmetry, you can even play the 3d version.  If you don't want to fuss with installing linux on your pc, you can use a live cd/dvd.  Sabayon's live version should have ksudoku included because it has everything but the kitchen sink.

Here is what it looks like--

2d version--

3d version--

Aw, c'mon. It's just one more task.  :D

Hollywood

I too must admit my addiction to Sudoku. I have already gone through many game books that I buy at the grocery store here. I now have a hand held "Game Boy"-like Sudoku player that I can take with me anywhere.

Very easy sudoku's may take 5 minutes or less if you try, but very hard ones might take much longer. Doing a 12x12 one would probably take me an hour or more. Though I do tend to do them whilst listening to some music, so I usually pay attention to the music, rather than the puzzle.

Solitary Wanderer

My wife was biten by the Sudoku bug a couple of years ago and does one every day. I've never tried as they don't really interest me, but I used to do the crossword each morning  ;)

Im not sure if it was here or on the old forum that I started a topic for this but I can't find it so I started a new one. How do you solve the hardest puzzles? I bought a book full of puzzles and some are labeled 'fiendish' and I have tried and tried but can't figure it out. Its like they make you think about every single possible number that can go in every single box.
