Title: Jan Swafford biography of Beethoven
Post by: USMC1960s on November 23, 2020, 07:08:32 PM
Just started it and find it riveting. Published in 2014.
The author has two other biographies---Brahms, and Mozart.

I recently finished it and I would concur that is very good apart from the index which is very muddled

A fine biography although it took me a long time to read it - I had a couple of long breaks. Currently reading Swafford's biography of Brahms which is progressing a lot quicker.

I found Brahms bio more enjoyable, but, yeah, Beethoven one was good too. Ives bio is another great one. Swafford is a good writer, I think.
