Via FaceBook I received this news about Larry Rinkel:

He had a near heart attack, and (I think) is undergoing a procedure to remove an arterial blockage today.

All the best to him, let's hope he recovers.

Thanks for letting us know.  I hope the surgery is a success and Larry has a swift recovery.  I'm sure he'll be back here in no time to argue the merits of Hurwitz with Madiel!

He had a procedure to test for an arterial blockage. None was found. I gather from FB postings that he has been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, and has been released with a long term heart monitoring system.

Really? That's what you're going with? I've unsubscribed from the Hurwitz thread. I couldn't have been clearer about it.

Best wishes for his recovery.

That was just a joke!  I'm sorry, I did not mean to offend you.

Thanks for the word! I think the state of the food is a deliberate ploy to motivate you to mend enough for a discharge as soon as may be.

You are quite welcome!  I assume that the heart issue is involved: as everyone knows, the weekend is not the time to be in the hospital, as it is typical that you will be cooling your heels and everything else until Monday.   ;)

Here is what Larry Rinkel wrote this morning:

Quote

"Basically, a urinary tract infection had not been responding to oral antibiotics, which led to feelings of extreme fatigue, elevated white blood count, and very low blood pressure (like 70/50). So they've been giving me some strong IV meds and hopefully that will resolve my problem. Thank you all for your good wishes 🙏 "

So he seems better today!  For the non-English speakers, "IV meds" is short for "Intravenous Medications."

I dislike "meds" for some reason: can you really not say "medicine" ?   :o    ;)

My mom used to have that problem, and since she took the advice of drinking more water (warm water preferred), or in her words: "Got to flush the plumbing!", she hasn't had the problem for a couple of years now and she just celebrated her 87th birthday.
So, Larry, drink more water, flush the plumbing, and get well! We love ya!!!

Well I'm sure that he was all he could manage with the low bp.  Oh wait did I just say bp instead of blood pressure? :-X

Latest update from Larry:

QuoteEntering my fifth day at this hospital with no end in sight. Heart rate too high, blood pressure too low, episodes of AFIB, urinary tract infection still not fully controlled. And now they're giving me decaf coffee. They're going to try another heart medication. But I'll definitely be here at least one more night.
