Quote from: Florestan on April 05, 2023, 01:18:09 AMI just sent aligreto an e-mail expressing our concern and kindly asking him to relieve us by letting us know he's fine. I hope we'll hear from him soon.
Thanks for doing that Andrei.

I confirm this good news. All is well, folks.

A mild embarrassment, yes, when a few months ago I tried to delete a bot on my phone, and zapped my own account instead. :-[ Ah well, there are more important things in life to obsess on.

I just noticed that Traverso has deleted his account.  :o  :(

Ugh, jeez, that was very quick and that is sad.  :(  :(

We removed an artsy NSFW picture from a Traverso post, and he communicated that the reaction surprised him. When you wrote this update, I was busy writing him a PM to make peace. Out of respect I won't say anything else, but in general, we want as many people as possible to feel happy and comfortable here. And as the leadership team, we don't mind talking about things like that via PM. Our boxes are open. Hope to see Traverso back again.

What on earth is "artsy NSFW"?

The link was to a black-and-white female nude.  It was not erotic, but...okay, not safe for work.

The reaction to leave is very surprising and, yes, sad!

Just stupidity!  :-\  As a freshman undergrad at the U of Michigan in the mid-1960s, I had 2 courses in Art History (used Janson's text; own a recent edition still) which were my favorites that year - of course, there were plenty of 'nude' sculptures and paintings - then in a trip to Italy in 1971, wife and I visited Florence and saw the David (my name but little similarity -  ;D) - just do not understand this frame of mind (or lack of a brain?).  Dave :)

The details are: the school was supposed to notify parents that Michelangelo's art would be shown and discussed.

Those who did not want their children to participate could have them exempted from the discussion.

The letter - through some sort of chain of mistakes - was never sent.  The teacher was therefore under the impression that everything was fine.

Most of the parents had no trouble with it....with or without prior notification.

But a few did and complained.

The principal, who took full responsibility for the mistake, resigned.

Some news reports claimed: "Michelangelo Banned at School," which was not the case.

I agree: ultimately very over-wrought, and the principal should not have been pushed out.

The outraged parents are absolutely right, enough is enough! Those salacious purveyors of filth known as Graeco-Roman Antiquity and Italian Renaissance should be canceled once and for all. Call in the Taliban, they have extensive expertise in dealing with the matter.
