Title: A visual guide to Messiaen's "Turangalila-Symphonie"
Post by: EigenUser on May 08, 2016, 04:15:50 PM
So I've been working on graphically representing some parts of the score to Messiaen's Turangalila-Symphonie in ways readable by both music readers and non-music readers alike. As an example, here is the central section of the 5th movement (click it to make it bigger):

Here is a performance of this part (section starts at 33:08): https://youtu.be/8PjyCpRKDrk?t=33m8s

Would anyone be interested in more of this? I have done this for sections in the 1st, 5th, 7th, and 8th movement (along with more elaborate descriptions of what each block represents).

Draw Turangalila? You're going to need longer paper. Much longer.

Sung to the tune of "My Boyfriend's Back": Hey-la-day-la my Ken B's back!

Good to see you again, Ken.

That is impressive, wow!
I coincidentally brought a new copy of the Turangalila recently, so damn good!
