Gurn's convivial contributions to the discussion here are missed by me.

I notice he is still active on Facebook, but he seems to have paused his updates to his Haydn web site for quite a while.

He'd pretty much covered Haydn's entire career.
I am now working on a discography of the works of Vagn Holmboe. Please visit and also contribute!

I'm not complaining. The last update brought things up to 1800. At that point ill health severely curtailed Haydn's productivity, but there were a few works through 1803, including an incomplete string quartet. That leaves me wondering why Gurn didn't go through with the last few entries, which would have covered those final works and Haydn's retirement.

I told him.  Gurn told me that he spent 20 years posting day in and day out here so he wanted a year off.

He told me that he is focusing on his art at the moment, but has every intention of finishing his project.  And he is still paying for the web site!

If one might borrow from Paul Simon,

for Gurn - wherever one might find him ...
When, a few months before his death, Rachmaninov lamented that he no longer had the "strength and fire" to compose, friends reminded him of the Symphonic Dances, so charged with fire and strength. "Yes," he admitted. "I don't know how that happened. That was probably my last flicker."
