'Lawrence of Arabia' has some claims to be one of the finest films ever made by one of the greatest of all directors, Sir David Lean. Lean chose Jarre to write the music for all of his films from 'Lawrence' on and although I suppose that I regret that neither Walton nor Arnold were available to score the film there is no doubt that Jarre's swelling theme tune will be indelibly linked with the desert epic. The scoring for the magical scene at the oasis as the sun rises is certainly masterly.
