Title: Listen to Ingo Metzmacher
Post by: Brünnhilde ewig on August 22, 2009, 10:31:06 AM
The German news network Deutsche Welle works with Metzmacher airing his concerts with the Deutsche Symphony Orchester. Take your pick of works here:

Wow, thanks, Lis!   :-*

Am listening to Christian Tetzlaff in Berg's Violin Concerto as we speak.

So am I! Tetzlaff is one of the best, if not the best of the new generation.

I loved Ingo for years, when he first came on the concert scene as the man with the guts to introduce contemporary classics to the staid concert halls. Not only guts, of course he also has the knowledge!  :)

I've heard Tetzlaff do the Berg live twice; he does an amazing job with it.  And yes, Metzmacher is quite fearless in his programming.  I also have his recording of Wozzeck, which is excellent.

Alas, no Hartmann.  But there's still quite a bit to hear:

Wagner: Prelude to Lohengrin
Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 in E Major
Webern: Passacaglia, Op. 1
Berg: Violin Concerto (with Christian Tetzlaff)
Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E Minor
Stravinsky: Le Sacre du Printemps
Messiaen: Eclairs sur l'Au-dela
Henze: Symphony No. 8
Messiaen: 'Turangalila' Symphony
Weber: Oberon Overture
Ives: Orchestral Set No. 2
Lutoslawski: Concerto for Orchestra
Mendelssohn: Midsummer Night's Dream Overture

Now I'm listening to the Bruckner 7th Symphony--pretty good, although I wish the volume could be turned up higher.  I have it up as high as it will go, and it's a little genteel.  ;D

Thanks for the link!  I've had Turangalila saved as a favorite on another site, but this is the first time I had a chance to hear it.  I enjoyed the Webern & Henze pieces...next up for me is the Lutoslawski.

Thanks, I think the Bruckner 7 looks very tempting. I attended his Tristan in Amsterdam/DNO last year and really liked the way he got every bit from the orchestra.

This is good to hear! I'm not able to listen online at the moment, but I'll be hearing Metzmacher and Tetzlaff in the Berg next week. Seems like it's going to be a good concert. :)
