I will be in San Francisco for a couple of days later this month. Would like to get any recommendations for CD shopping there. (Preference for places in the city itself, rather than the Bay Area as a whole)

That is so sad... when I lived there back in the '70's, there was a record store on every corner, it seemed. Places like Peaches, Licorice Pizza, Tower, of course, and many other chains and single stores. Not to mention the humongous Tower over in Berkeley. You could take BART over and spend an afternoon wandering through the stacks. :(

You're right. But I don't have nearly as much enjoyment on Amazon. Reading, fondling the merchandise etc. I really do miss that. That said, the selection at Amazon is huge, compared to Tower. But the information that I really want to know about a disk is frequently not there. So I have to spend an hour on Google instead. So it goes. :)
