AGP159 is the second featuring the work of the legendary pioneering minimalist composer La Monte Young. This one features The Black Record, which was released originally on LP in a numbered edition of 2800. Rare copies of the original LP sell for 300 Euros and up on Discogs. The files included in this installment appear to have come from a CD original, but I haven't seen any mention elsewhere of a CD reissue. If this is ultimately an LP transcription, it was done with unknown equipment.
I was only given the data files, so I have no scans of the liner notes. I have included in the torrent description everything I was readily able to find out about this release. For more information on La Monte Young, see the Wikipedia article on him, or visit his website at:

I was originally going to include in this installment a transcription of the 2000 CD issue of "Inside the Dream Syndicate, Vol. 1: Day of Niagara", which was recorded in 1965, but the composer's statement criticizing the release has persuaded me otherwise. For more information, see:

Instead, I have included two versions of side B, one of which has been slowed down by 50%, equivalent to playing the 33 1/3 rpm LP at 16 2/3 rpm, as the composer suggests as one possibility in the liner notes. The effect is vaguely reminiscent of Iannis Xenakis' electroacoustic work Bohor.
