Why should I be concerned that there is a musician that I don't even know that I don't know.  There are approximately 4 billion in that catagory.   ???

Because they are not all created equal.

Really, your question entirely puzzles me.  Why should anyone be content with only knowing musicians he already knows?  (Especially dead ones.)
