"Who said there aren't any hot female pianists?"
I've never seen anybody say that, considering how much the classical industry have realised that sex sells in the past few decades... :-\
My No 1 is Helene Grimaud and my No 2 is Naida Cole.
"Who said there aren't any hot female pianists?"
good question, so who?
I never realised how hot female horn players could be until yesterday.
Helene Grimaud is about as hot as it gets!
I don't know about pianists... but there are plenty of good looking violinists.... :)

I discovered that one day in 1968, August, a Saturday night, on the campus of Ohio University. She'd play Siegfried's horn call from the roof of the music building as I walked to class. The affair doomed me...but it was worth it 8)

It's no secret around here that I'm in love with Hélène
(http://photos.imageevent.com/sgtrock/gmgpictures/GrimaudBestOf.jpg)
but I saw this Russian pianist two years ago at a Chopin Society recital: Ekaterina Kitaeva
http://www.ekaterina-kitaeva.de/e-vita.htm
The recital took place in a room in a baroque palace. Only 50 or so in the audience. I was in the front row, about ten feet away from her as she played for two hours. It was an...experience.

We are music nerds, and a beautiful woman who can play well makes her so much more desirable.

If you're going to ruin the fun for everyone, get out right now. Nobody wants you here.
Why must some people assume that when others marvel at the beauty of a female artist that we are incapable of acknowledging their musical talent? I contend that some of the most talented musicians in the classical world are often discriminated against BECAUSE of their physical beauty. The close-minded tend to write them off as visual treats with little musical substance and grouping really talented musicians such as Hahn, Jansen, Mutter, Fischer, and others with the lightweight crossover artists like Bond and Charlotte Church. This in my mind is not only an inaccurate comparison but borders on some sort of reverse sexism.
Believe it or not, talent and beauty CAN go together and I do not feel less of a person for acknowledging that a female artist has both.

This should just be moved to the diner. We discuss the merits of musicians and their works on the other boards while The 'Diner' is reserved for all things 'music excepted'.
We had a long thread like this on the old forum.

well, good looking ones might draw more crowds, so they make more money; and more importantly the good looking ones can appeal to people who don't really listen that much classical, and spark their interest in classical music.

Do we really need to defend the idea of a group of men discussing beautiful women?

Nothing sexist about admiring a woman's (or person's beauty). It's only sexist if you make negative generalizations about someone who belongs to a certain gender, solely on the basis of that membership.
Admiring someone's physical beauty is natural and normal. It's what we're wired to do biologically, even outside of the aesthetic or philosophical concerns of the poets who have celebrated fair ladies in their art since time immemorial.
For my part, I have enormous admiration for physical beauty. I'm surrounded by smart, talented people all the time and take that, more or less, for granted, but stunning physical beauty is a relatively rare and very fleeting thing worth veneration--if not some drool ;D

For the most part I agree. I'm just not sure such discussions have a place on a Classical Music Forum, unless it be in The Diner, a section, incidentally, I never read.

Yes, I don't think we could have the same taste in music if she would play such a crappy piece. High or low positions, or both, any position really would be nice :-*

Yes. (Further comment may not be prudent!!).
However, there is the Bond Quartet. Their instruments look as bare as they do.
I wonder if they do private performances?

And by God she can play exceptionally well too. Check out her Bach/Liszt recital on Naive for some inspired Bach especially the chorale preludes.

Removing that restriction I would have to go with this one:
whom I think is the most attractive woman out there, musican, pianist or otherwise.
Julia Fischer does look stunning and she apparently is a pretty good pianist. I seem to recall that years ago she played the Grieg concerto and some violin concerto within one concert.
Janine Jansen is also quite attractive but more so on pictures. She is something like 6 ft tall and somewhat lanky.
