Title: Actors playing Composers
Post by: mahler10th on January 13, 2011, 01:44:34 AM
Right then, as I have been wrestling with a screen adaptation of the life of Hans Rott, I wonder if I was the casting Director, who I would get to play Rott and the other Major characters.  Here is a wee list, but what of all the rest?  Who is 'right' for YOUR castlist (you don't have to stick with what I've laid here...you could say you would have George Clooney being Vivaldi if you want, etc, although GC playing Vivaldi I don't think is an ideal marriage!)

Hans Rott - Zac Efron
Gustav Mahler - Daniel Radcliffe
Johannes Brahms - Ralph Fiennes or Willhem Defoe
Anton Bruckner - John Goodman
Rudolph Krzyzanowski - Seth Green
Hugo Wolf - Robert Pattinson

John Goodman seems a better chocie for Hindemith than Bruckner. Bruckner wasn't quite that "big boned". Facial features are also completely different.

On second thought, I don't believe that A Life of Rott is a title to set the right tone, do you? : )

And too, Goodman is 6'2''--an entire foot taller than the very short, round Bruckner.

Sarge

This is why I will never make a decent Casting Director.  Ok, for Bruckner, Dustin Hoffman with a pillow up his belly.

No, you really want Danny DeVito for this . . . .

I hope the OP just made a joke thread. Those choices are ludicrous.

Yes Josquin darling, this is in The Diner because it's not at all serious.   :)
I was hoping to make people smile, and go daft thinking up some ludicrous matches of their own.
Perhaps the only one I mentioned worth the part is Fiennes for Brahms, who has 'shocking' blue eyes as Brahms did.   :-*

Too tall to play Brahms, would you say, Sarge?

On the lookalikes thread I was amused by the Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester photo compared with Sibelius, but still thought he looked more like Bruckner--Lloyd even more so!
