I knew that!
Of course, it's only because I'd seen the video before. Talk about a paradigm shift!
I knew that. Last year a gal named Kait showed me how to do it. I've been evangelizing the One True Banana Opening ever since.
Plus, it's so much fun to open a banana like that in a group, because people stare at you and think you're crazy until it works, and then they get perplexed and amazed.
I still peel the banana the other way, but I remember someone telling me that the proper way was by the end, which is how monkeys peel the banana. ;D
I didn't know that, although I did have another lesser revelation - the top is slightly easier to snap off if you pull it while bending. Trying to bend it without tension risks mashing the top
I tried the monkey method, but apparently I'm an incompetent primate, because it didn't work well for me.
Why can't blondes eat bananas? They can't find the zipper !
:D :D ;D ;D
What serendipity! I just came home from the store with five bananas. I can practice all night.

Just pinch that little sucker. Splits right open. :)
Must've had one tough banana. >:(
Well, monkeys evolved before us, i.e. Homo sapiens, so they have had much more time to practice their banana peeling technique! ;D
I still prefer opening it the other way, if you've got a good thumbnail, it's easy to split the stalk, pinching the tip squashes the end into a mush, either way the banana still tastes the same.
You might want to start with a ripe banana.

I agree. In both my two tries opening the tip, the flesh was mangled and squashed. Therefore after embracing my inner monkey, I have decided I prefer the more highly evolved method known only to man.

A key point indeed.
The ovious question is: why peel it and lose all the good fibre?

Well, that is yet another thread! ;) ;D
I like my bananas on the 'greener' side of their lives; however, my wife (Harpo) likes her bananas riper w/ brown spots and mushier - I just cringe at that degree of ripeness! :D 8)
I think some of you are pinching too much of your banana. ;D
Works like a charm for me. But my bananas aren't overly green. Pretty ripe. I like the stem in the inverted position too - makes for a nifty holder.

Yeah, I can't take ripe bananas anymore. When they get too ripe I use them to make smoothies or peanut butter & banana sandwiches.
By the way, the bananas that you can buy in the store are apparently an inferior tasting variety that are easier to transport. I'm reminded of Red (not) Delicious apples.

Next thing you know, you will be showing people how to skin a possum or swing a cat. It's a grave danger to public morality and decency--bananas were MEANT to be hard to peel--that's good for people's moral fibre and prevents the spread of communism. Everybody knows that." ©tfD ;)

Huh?
