Title: Some nice Gould
Post by: Chaszz on April 07, 2011, 06:56:08 PM
I don't want to get started on an HIP vs. older practice discussion. But here is a nice clip from the old school. Glenn Gould took the shorthand figured bass from the first movement of Bach's Cantata 54 and built a substantial and beautiful piano part from it that undergirds the whole performance. Perhaps just suspend judgment and enjoy.

A very beautiful piece, but now I'm not going to get to sleep tonight because the final two chords were abruptly cut out when the clip ended too soon.  I need resolution !!!    :o
