:) Hello

I recently discovered this forum and have posted only a few times. Interested in most classical, but less so in 18th C (Mozart, Haydn) and much more in late 19th-20th C: Wagner, Mahler, Schoenberg. Bartok, Sibelius, Ligeti, Lutoslawski, Janacek, Frank Martin, Roberto Gerhard, many others...also interested in contemporary composers. Collecting LP, CD, mp3, FLAC etc for over 40 years (yikes!) :D

I've got an advanced music degree, but I enjoy all levels of discussion. Too bad some composer threads here are moribund, and it seems a little hard to 'break in' to discussions among long-time members, but that's the way with most forums I guess.

Welcome! Love the line up of the composers and era's you like, I am something of a omnivore myself, so I would like to say also, "and many others". ;D

yes, easier for me to list the few composers I don't like very much....I worked in record stores for many years and was exposed to so much music I would not have heard otherwise....that's an ear-opener for sure ;)

Welome! Feel free to start some of those threads up. You will find there are probably others interested in that composer or topic too!

I find the best way to deal with that is just not go away and eventually they get used to you. ;D

Here's the Gerhard thread. One of the members here, Lethe Dmitriyevich Shostakovich, created a very helpful post at the top of the Composers board, with an index of all the composers' threads. The list is arranged alphabetically by country, and then alphabetically by last name within that.

Yes, I would say that Koechlin is well worth investigating, but my opinion may be a little biased. ;)
