Title: R.I.P Montserrat Figueras
Post by: Florestan on November 29, 2011, 11:12:14 AM
From the Alia Vox website:

After a long struggle with cancer detected over a year ago, which she courageously combined with concerts and recordings until last August, the singer, MONTSERRAT FIGUERAS, died on November the 23th in Bellaterra at the age of 69 in the company of her family, Jordi Savall and their children Arianna and Ferran.

May God have mercy on her soul.

Well, that is sad - years ago we saw Jordi Savall and his group locally - his wife was supposed to have been on the program but was ill - now regret she was not there that night probably 20 or so years ago - :(

I saw her, many years ago, with Savall in a concert with ancient music of Spain, Portugal and Italy. I am sorry that she died. Among her beautiful recordings, made with Savall, I love Guerrero's Sacrae Cantiones, recorded in 1992.
