Seems like we have a lot of hostility out there today. So perhaps we just need a silly poll to lighten the mood a bit. There is nothing scientific about this. Just pick the one that takes your fancy. You will not be tested on this material!

Something tells me that my life would be in danger if I didn't pick Mravinsky. Could be his stare.

Alsop, OTOH, looks like her life could be in danger if we didn't - or did, could go either way - pick her.
Johohoe! Johohohoe! ;D
Karajan the Fisherman for me.

Someone dared to go against Mravinsky! I'm scared.... :P
Karajan came so close...I absolutely love the completely irrelevant photo for that album. Hysterical. But the taglines made me laugh even more, so my vote goes there.

Aww, shucks. :-[ A couple more like that and I can lock the poll! :P (j/k)
But I agree about the photo. It cracks me up. The Alsop too - such a deer in the headlights type picture. And every time I see the Rattle, I always have to look twice, because it looks like he's giving a nasty gesture.

TWU.
Is that
Peer or
Tapio singing?
Karajan for me, too.
And 'Legendary Treasures' sounds a bit too tame - naming the series
Greatest Legendary Treasure of Century would probably triple the sales ;D
a different angle, and the Mravinsky and Alsop could be very eerily similar.

Don't worry, he'll track them down. :) You know how as kids where you play this staring game and you can't blink/laugh/turn away - I bet he was good at it (if the pictures are any judge).

You may have something there.
The Karajan cover is the best. Music wise I choose Mravinsky, but I voted for Karajan. I don't care for the whole I just shat myself poses some conductors take.
Musically & pictorially, Mravinsky, but most of these are good for a chuckle. Nice hat, Herb.
I went of Lenny; the tagline could apply to almost any picture of him while conducting.
The only one I actually have is the Dudamel, which is very good--in fact, was the recording that convinced me that Tchaikovsky's symphonies did not need to be played in a manner that could induce diabetic comas.

It's so against type. Someone must have been trying to convince him to get loose or something or maybe be more like everyone else.
I like the picture of the Dude (he always looks like he is enjoying the music) and Karajan on his boat as well :)

Yeah - but not in Sibelius or Grieg, surely??!
Yes, not in them; looking at Karajan's cover immediately made me think of his recording of
Der fliegende Holländer...... ;)
They obviously photoshopped the Mravinsky. Both his wife and pitchfork are missing. I've partially restored it.

Had to go with Bernstein. The captions that could go with the image are endless.
interesting no one picked Rattle. No one takes him seriously in that pose?
Sgt, your photoshop is a thing of wonder.
I love the Karajan fisherman! ;D

I'm happening to be viewing Arkivmusic's clearance listings in another tab of this browser; there are a few Karajan CDs with equally app(e)alling cover photos

These are classics as well, thanks for posting these, Jeffrey! :D
There are similarly 'stylish' covers of Berstein as well, as I remember.
