The local Half Price Books made a purchase of a huge number of classical CDs on the Centaur label. There were a few Dorian issues in the same buy, but I'm not sure if the labels are related. All are new, still sealed, but I don't recall if they have cutout holes or edge slices. Anyway, these appear to offer some unusual repertoire and some standard pieces, but all with essentially unknown artists. Since I have zero experience with the label, I must ask: does anyone know these? Is it some other company's effort to do a CPO trip? And...most important...are there any specific performers/performances I should be looking for?
Thanks in advance,
Dirk
Dirk, I've download a couple of discs of Centaur stuff from eMusic - staggeringly good sound, so far. I'm planning to grab a few more next month, so it's currently too early to comment. But you could always have a listen to a few snippets here. (http://www.emusic.com/browse/l/b/-dbm/a/0-0/1400095320+1200000279/0.html)
There must be many, but here are two I like:
Roussel: Chamber Music with Flute (Jayn Rosenfeld and others)

Onderdonk, Frank, Ortiz : Music for Two Pianos (Stephen Gosling / Eric Huebner)
