Title: January is Schumonth!
Post by: Brian on December 30, 2013, 07:57:47 PM
Schubert
Schulhoff
Schuller
W. Schuman
C. Schumann
R. Schumann
Schütz
& others?!

I have been feeling a strong impulse to explore more of Schubert, whom I love, and Schumann, whose music I've only been connecting with in the last few months. After a few other GMGers expressed interest, we're rebooting the "listening months" with Schumonth!

I'll be popping in to talk about my journeys through Schubert and Schumann, a few early music fans might stop by to talk about Heinrich Schütz, and I hope some of you will join us on our adventures and make it a party.  :)

Schuman is another. I only have a couple of his works ("In Praise Of Shahn" and "To Thee Old Cause"). I'm not sure they're really my thing, but I have been meaning to give them another listen.

I haven't listened to Schubert or Schumann in maybe a month, which puts me practically in withdrawal for the former. I'll gladly join you with both of them.

I think we also have Georg Schumann on some cpo releases.

Granted it is some time since I've listened to Schubert, but re R Schumann I am deep into the two Alpha boxes with chamber music and piano music (focusing on the works I don't know); and I have a new Scutz disc from Carus on the way as soon as the postal services are free from the Christmas overload.
