I would have my doubts about Neville Mariner.

Can you find this one below? Superb, I guarantee you!

I purchased these back when they were first released (mid 1990s, I think).  They really are great recordings.  Great sound quality and balance.  Moravec's version of the 24th PC is my all-time favorite version.

Here are the original CD releases:

Sublime, a collection must. The sonatas, too.

I have the disc with Op 20 on it, and it is very good.  Sound is fine, and Marriner and his band are fine.  The Moravec set with Josef Vlach conducting is superior though - an amazing disc.

Moravec is nothing short of amazing. Someone who plays composers ranging from Mozart to Prokofiev with complete identification, you can't do much but marvel at it.

I agree that the ones with Vlach are special. Actually, we've talked about these before (remember the discussion about Moravec's Beethoven concertos 3 and 4 with various conductors? I think it was in that thread). I still have the original Supraphon vinyl version of 14 & 23...and a Vanguard LP pressing from the Supraphon master of 25 and the fantasia. Beautiful renderings. Haven't heard the Marriner-led versions, though, so can't comment or compare.

I bought these performances today, and I must say the performance and sound are spectacular. The chamber version of No. 26 is excellent as well. Do not hesitate.  :)
