Despite its elitism, it is one of the forum's best threads ;)

Shostakovich String Quartets...commandeered by snyprrr last August and, as an example of sheer obsessive insanity, unprecedented.

But it had such an uplifting, heartfelt outcome, with Klemp and Celi in the finals, and Eugen banished to the also rans ;D 8)

I've missed you!
The Zapolski take almost 8 minutes in the Op.68 'Waltz'!!
Yes, we have almost reached the end of The Quest, and it has been quite the task! You can know I'm there because now I've been on a steady diet of Nos. 2-3,the 'War' Quartets', my least favourite until recently.
You can also tell it's near the end because I've apparently driven off all our Best Correspondents in the Field, you included!! I just realized Today that the Mandelring 15th is the single quickest on record,- I just got the Eder 15 today, and its quickness is profound, it's energy biting (though it boasts the third longest 1st, at 12:50- the other two are the Borodin'95 (13:44) and the Danel (13:42)). I'm starting to warm to the Mandelring... at first I thought they would be too refined, but they seem, like the Brodsky, to always have sooomething to say that may be a bit out of the ordinary (a very quick 'Moderato con moto' on No.6 Op.101). I am currently considering them for my TopChoice in No.14, but the expense puts the Box almost within reach. Buuut,... $$$...
anyhow, I'm still pretty juiced to chat up some DSCHSQs!
btw- yes! "My" Thread gets points for actual useful GMG Information! gaaaKkk!!

Very, very tempting...but I'm old. I don't have the time, or energy to keep hunting for the Grail.

What a whirl wind of emotion that thread was. ???
I'm exhausted just thinking about it. ;)
I will vote for the Bruckner Comparison Thread too. :)
To the folks that put the blind comparison threads together. Bravo.
And of course there is Gurn's Haydn thread. But giving it to him would be like tossing the Oscar to John Williams for Best Score each year. It could easily be justified, but spread the love.

Off topic, but "Interstellar" is the best work Hans Zimmer has done in his life. Maybe because he borrows a lot from Bartok's
Wooden Prince.

It has certainly attained a stature no one might have predicted for it . . . .
What about Eigenuser's Symphony No 104 thread (http://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php/topic,23777.msg850292.html#msg850292)? ;)
