Hi there. Some people here might know me from elsewhere, some others might not wish to know me — I won't hazard a guess as to the overlap between the two groups. For everyone else: pleased to be making your acquaintance.
"Crudblud" - OK, there's a username you don't see that often! (Origin, please, for those of us who are curious.)
Tell us a little about yourself - where you are, what kinds of music you like.
Most of all, have fun.
--Bruce
Welcome aboard, I hope you enjoy yourself here. Do let us know the kinds of music you are into.
Cheers,
Mike
Crudblud! Great to see you here!
Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome.
For Bruce and other curious parties: The name's about thirteen years old now. Some school friends and I used to go to a now defunct cyber/gaming cafe, on my first visit I had to register for an account there and Crudblud was the first thing that popped into my head. I've been using it ever since.
As for me, I'm a composer based in the north of England (though I was born in the south) and I mainly work with computers. I'm also reasonably proficient on the guitar and on single-reed woodwind instruments, particularly alto saxophone and clarinet. At the moment I work at a local independent game development studio as a writer and composer.
My musical interests are pretty broad, I never call myself a fan of any particular genre, but I could probably come up with at least a few things in any given category that I enjoy. More relevant to the general topic of this forum: I like Mahler, Ravel, Messiaen, Stravinsky, Schoenberg, Webern, Ives, and Carter, to name a few, and I guess my favourite music is generally of the 20th century, but I am also a fan of Scarlatti's keyboard sonatas, the chamber works of Beethoven, Luzzaschi madrigals, Bach's solo violin music, Froberger partitas and so forth.
Outside of music I enjoy watching films, reading books (mostly novels), playing games, and baking.
Yeah. Another one of the good ones. It seems that the level of discussion is going down over there. :)
Welcome and have fun!

You flatter me, arpeggio. I have been looking for somewhere else for a while, since I started to realise it was not a lack of a desire to discuss music with other people but rather a lack of a desire to do it there. I hope this is that "somewhere else."

Hi Crudblud, you may remember me from my variation project?
Welcome :)
But of course. Did the "scrolling score" video ever come to fruition?
Quote from: Thatfabulousalien on September 29, 2016, 10:55:27 PM
It didn't, unfortunately. The experience was great though and I learnt quite a bit about the ways different people interpret the same idea.
By the way, I've been following you on Soundcloud and Youtube. I like your work a great lot! :)
Too bad, but at least we all had a chance to try something new.
And thanks, I'm glad you like it. I'll hopefully have new stuff to share soon.
Welcome aboard, Crudblud!
Hello again, Crudblud, I beat you here by a couple of days !!
Hi Crudblud.
It just this minute struck me that so many TC people are here now - that your reasons for leaving may have preceded you. 8)
The mass migration just keeps going. I've long enjoyed your input to discussions as well as listening to your music. Welcome!
Hey dude. :)

Another face I'm glad to see. The other place just hasn't been the same, getting less so as more good posters leave for elsewhere.

Can't hurt to try, can it? Thanks!
It's amazing how many x TC people are here is it raising the IQ level of both forums? ;D

Nice to meet you! Though I should warn you I'm not big on Prokofiev... maybe you'll change my mind one of these days.

Nah, I'm not going to try and change your mind. If you don't like him then I'll just learn to accept it. It should be noted that I change my avatar all the time. Prokofiev is just one of many of my favorite composers.
Great to see you here Crudblud! Looking forward to a plethora of excellently written posts, witty remarks and other :D
(you knew me as coag)
Once more, a new "familiar" name and avatar here - your new FZ picture is great.
Welcome, and enjoy! :)

That's fine, but I meant it more in the sense that I'm open to recommendations any time.

Thanks! I thought I'd pick out the most ridiculous one I could find. I also thought it was appropriate for the impending
apocalypse U.S. election.

Dunno the effect on GMG. The general comfort level at TC is probably improving as the thought level declines.
Crudblud is capable of expressing unconventional concepts.

Totally understand. In that case, check out
Scythian Suite (in particular, the Gergiev performance). Has a
Le sacre-like feel to it.
Edit: I noticed you're not a fan of
Le sacre, so nevermind. ;)

I checked it out anyway. I wouldn't say they're all that similar, but I can see what you mean all the same. I liked some bits of
Scythian, which is good because I have handholds to branch out from when I listen to it again, but overall it isn't quite my thing right now.
Bumping because I didn't know where else to post this.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here. My first two weeks at GMG have been very enjoyable and I believe I'm here to stay.

Welcome from me too.
'TC people'? Don't know what that means. Can only think of 'Top Cat' one of my favourite TV programmes as a child!

Talk Classical, another forum. It seems many recent members have 'migrated' from there to here.
