Title: Strange link/embedding or Forum hacked or problem on my computer?
Post by: Jo498 on December 12, 2016, 11:08:08 AM
I just had a very curious experience.
While browsing "Recordings you are considering" I encountered on
Reply #12866 a very explicit pornographic clip embedded on a place where I'd have expected a cover picture of a CD or something. [You have been warned, definitely not safe for work or family]
Not being very knowledgeable about computer safety I wonder if this is a problem of the forum or if it could be something affecting my computer. I did not click on anything, the graphic graphic ;) was embedded without me doing anything.

I see it too.  It's not just you.  I recommend that a moderator go in and edit the post.

Reported it. That definitely looks like hacking - the attachment was originally a CD review in PDF format. For it to be replaced with a GIF is...odd.

Well, I deleted the post. It was a link from the poster's hosting service. If there has been a hack, it was there. Strange times.

There are new ways to avoid popup blocking that I've encountered recently, not just on dodgy sites but on perfectly respectable ones. I have "open in a new tab" set plus popup blocking which tells me when a pop wants to up, but now many aren't blocked. Some open while you're browsing the site and you click somewhere, some open when you leave. Only a few are raunchy, many are just spamvertising of the ordinary kind.
