Alright Pärt fans, it's time to speak out. What are your 'Top 5 Favorite Works' from this composer?
I'll start (in no particular order) -
Litany
Tabula Rasa
Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
Miserere
Symphony No. 3
This was definitely difficult as there are so many of his works that I adore.
Stabat Mater
Es sang vor langen Jahren
Fratres
Tabula Rasa
Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
Tabula Rasa
Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
Te Deum
Stabat Mater
Symphony 2

Interesting list mainly for the inclusion of
Symphony No. 2, which is a symphony I never liked. I can't say I'm particularly impressed with any of Pärt's earlier work as it sounds like second- or third-rate Schnittke without the emotional core that even his early works contained.
Symphony No. 3 (1971) is where I feel the composer has broke some fascinating new musical ground and finally got away from a style that, in retrospect, wasn't for him at all.
De Profundis
Spiegel im Spiegel
Orient & Occident
Stabat Mater
Tabula Rasa

Thanks,
John. I see
Miserere made your list, which is a great piece, could've easily been in my top 5.

And
Stabat Mater could have easily made my list as well. ;)
