This may be a difficult poll for some of you while others may be thrilled by the prospect of this poll. For those that don't know, the Generation of 1880 was a group of Italian composers that set out in bringing orchestral music back into the Italian music scene, which was dominated by opera around that time. The composers in question are: Respighi, Casella, Pizzetti, and Malipiero. Let's see your lists!
I may sit this one out for awhile until I can think of a list that I'll be satisfied with.

I'm very fond of those magnificent composers, so I say these ones:
Respighi - Vetrate di Chiesa, Feste Romane
Casella - Symphony 2
Pizzetti - Canti della stagione alta
Malipiero - Impressioni dal Vero
I'll have to think about this one. I know my #1 choice will be Alfredo Casella's La Giara. As for the remaining four, I'm afraid my list will be skewed towards Casella, perhaps with an appearance of either Pizzetti or Malipiero. No Respighi, that's for sure (unless operas allowed in the poll - are they?).

Absolutely, Rafael. Any kind of work from these composers are allowed and if your list is slanted towards Casella, then that's perfectly acceptable. :)

Great list, SymphonicAddict! I've heard all of these works, but will freely admit it's been quite some time since I've heard the Pizzetti.

Thanks! I also know the Pizzetti's Symphony in A major, but it's not at the same level of that piano concerto IMHO.
Canti della stagione alta is so lovely, it has been a marvelous discovery this year.

Great thread, John. Still haven't heard some major works by Casella and Pizzetti, and I'm barely familiar at all with Malipiero's music (situations which I intend to rectify shortly), but here's my current list:
Respighi: Pini di Roma, Concerto gregoriano
Casella: Symphonies 1 and 3 (haven't heard the 2nd yet, which sounds right up my alley)
Pizzetti: Concerto Dell'Estate

Thanks, I can't say I'm surprised to find you contributing to this thread, Kyle. :) I'm not
too crazy about Casella's
Symphonies Nos. 1 & 2. For me, that lyricism that I so love so much in Casella's music really comes to the fore in his
Sinfonia (Symphony No. 3) and remember Alun Francis on CPO is the way to go there. ;)
The lack of interest in this thread only makes me smile with dorky glee. :)
I think I'm ready for a list after much consideration...(in no particular):
Casella: Sinfonia, "Symphony No. 3"
Malipiero: Symphony No. 4, "In Memoriam"
Respighi: Violin Sonata
Respighi: Three Botticelli Pictures
Pizzetti: Tri Preludii Sinonici per L'Edipo Re La Pisanella
