Title: Scott Joplin (1868-1917)
Post by: San Antone on October 16, 2017, 10:13:02 AM
Creating a thread for Scott Joplin might bother some, if they do not consider him a classical composer.  However, I do think his music qualifies, hence, this thread.

Here's a short post I put up on my blog (https://fdleone.com/2017/10/16/scottt-joplin-king-of-ragtime/).

Some notable recordings:

Scott Joplin: The Easy Winners
Itzhak Perlman & Andre Previn

Joplin: Treemonisha
Paragon Ragtime Orchestra and Singers, Rick Benjamin

Joplin: Piano Rags
Joshua Rifkin

Here's hoping a few others share my admiration for this American composer and post some of their favorite recordings.
