I've just created and started uploading to a YouTube channel to be devoted to the music of my late, great friend Mark Edgley Smith, talented musician, writer, humorist and graphic artist. The channel is very much a work in progress, and is rudimentary at best at the moment, but will in time include all the recordings I have of Mark's that are out of copyright or for whose use the performers have given permission (or at least have been asked by me for permission - a few have responded).
The first 3 posts on the channel are:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMTjDVExJ2k (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMTjDVExJ2k) - Campanile, for flute, harp and harpsichord, dating from student days at Oxford
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_PBJrc3J2g (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_PBJrc3J2g) - In nomine, for 6 instruments
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD8XZL_QosQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD8XZL_QosQ) - "People of liberated city celebrate under a cloud", for piano
The one piece I can't post is his only commercial release, the (to my doubtless partial ears) exquisite 5 Madrigals to poems by e e cummings: https://www.hyperion-records.co.uk/c.asp?c=C1917
I hope his stuff finds a few admirers out there.
(Incidentally, the performer of "People of liberated city" is Robert Keeley, himself a composer of great talent: here's his Symphony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9re-gx_wCOQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9re-gx_wCOQ).)
