Title: Barrington Pheloung (1954-2019)
Post by: vandermolen on August 01, 2019, 12:41:49 PM
I was sorry to hear about the death of Barrington Pheloung, the Australian composer at the age of 65. He is best known for composing the theme and incidental music for the Inspector Morse TV series. My own favourite work by him is the lovely 'Fantasia for the Little Prince' based on the incidental music he wrote for a rather charming TV drama about the life of the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of 'The Little Prince'. I seem to recall that the Fantasia was dedicated to Pheloung's sister who died young.
The CD below, available very inexpensively, features a fine selection of his music including the Fantasia for the Little Prince:

As I am sorry, I certainly loved his tunes for Inspector Morse, one of the best detectives ever made. 65 years is really to young to go, it really is.
RIP.
