Title: Walter Gaze-Cooper
Post by: stuart on April 17, 2020, 05:29:09 AM
Apart from those who do know of him in England,is there anyone in the outside world who has heard of the composer Walter Gaze-Cooper who was born near Nottingham in 1895 and died in 1981.He did little to expose the world to his work which is unfortunate and up until around 2012 little had been done since the late 1960s.
He founded the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra (amateur ensemble) which enabled him to conduct some of his own works. There are nine symphonies which I think are relatively short,Chamber Works,Concertos,Orchestral and solo Piano pieces.
Comments world be appreciated

I think that I have some of his music on a Cameo Classics CD but can't recall it at the moment. I am UK based however.
