Title: Lisitsa playing Tchaikovsky's "12 Seasons"

When she lived in NC we corresponded and I met her once down at Wilmington.

She looks very different in-person -- made up she is a doll in these videos and concert appearances, but in blue jeans on a Saturday afternoon her face is very "bony" - that's the only way I can put it. Very Slavic features, and I don't mean that negatively, but it was startling.  She's what - 50+ now?  I wonder how her star may fall in the face of all the 'glamour' model young pianists who look like they stepped out of a fashion magazine (but remarkably all play very well.)  I didn't pick up the boxed set because too much of that music is a wee bit disposable for me - I only enjoy the major piano works of Tchaikovsky. I wonder if she will team with Hahn again?  The Ives set was strong - maybe they could tackle some Bartok next round?

Watching now, this is excellent. These works were part of my repertoire as an amateur pianist and I've always sought out a recording that did them justice. I've got Prunyi on Naxos and also Pletnev. However, the love that Lisitsa show these works makes this the top pick for me.
