Post by: Florestan on March 23, 2021, 02:24:44 PM
Have at it, folks!

Mine is Josef Strauss' Die Nasswalderin

You can pick one and only one, sorry!

I'm not even sure if this qualifies, but I enjoy this one from Stravinsky:

Thank you very much, my dear John, as it might very well be the one and only answer to this poll!  ;D

What a coinkidink.  I was listening to Schwanda earlier, which has a famous Polka:

In this area of the US you can turn on the radio and get your fill of polkas (Tejano).

Just listened today to Smetana's String Quartet #1 "From my Life", which has the à la Polka second movement.

Other than that, does that movement with the accordion in Tchaikovsky's 2nd orchestral suite count?

Any Polka-Masur specifically designated as such by the composer will do.

For the purpose of this thread, any other Polka specifically designated as such by the composer will do.

This thread is for fun only.

You're welcome, Andrei. I'll add some more later if I can think of them.

Since I'm a great fan of the Strauss Family, I've always liked polka very much.
About polka-mazur, some of my favourites are:

Johann Strauss II:
Fata Morgana op. 330
Spleen op. 197
Stadt und Land op. 322
Lob der Frauen op. 315
Ein Herz, ein Sinn! op. 323
Sonnenblume op. 459

Josef Strauss:
Die Libelle op. 204
Die Schwätzerin op. 144
Brennende Liebe op. 129

Just to be precise, Cesar, that is a polka-schnell, a wonderful piece anyway.
