Title: Henriette Hilda Bosmans
Post by: Big David on March 11, 2022, 03:27:23 AM
BBC Radio 3 is featuring Bosmans as their composer of the week.  One of the pieces is her cello concerto no. 2.  I was really impressed with this.  Does anyone know where I can get a CD of this work  There doesn't seem to be one available in the UK.

Bosmans is a great composer with a fascinating history (https://www.forbiddenmusicregained.org/search/composer/id/100018). She wrote quite a few pieces for cello, mostly for her then partner, Frieda Belinfante (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frieda_Belinfante), who also premiered the second cello concerto.

It doesn't contain the piece you're looking for, but I highly recommend this CD (https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/Doris-Hochscheid-Dutch-Sonatas-f%FCr-Cello-Klavier-Vol-4/hnum/9902633), by cellist Doris Hochscheid and pianist Frans van Ruth. Nuit calme is especially gorgeous. Another work to give a listen is her string quartet. There's a lovely, very recent recording by the Belinfante Quartet on Spotify.
