The RAF flypast of Buckingham Palace was v impressive, although the noise was too much for Prince Louis:

Good that the RAF was not infiltrated by hostile entities. I remember Anwar el-Sadat was on a parade reviewing stand when one of the military units in the parade stopped and began firing at him.
Europadisc has a jubilee sale on British labels, so I might look at that. ;D

Oh, I remember that. Sadat was brave to sign a treaty with Israel.

Excellent! Hope you find something good.
I'm a definite fan of the UK, and London is my favorite city, beyond all others.
All the best to HRH, she's always been a class act and a splendid sovereign.

Nicely put! :)
I always got the impression that the Queen never really wanted to be Queen. She seemed quite a happy-go-lucky sort of person until the role was placed upon her. But that once it was, she responded with an untiring sense of duty and integrity to its execution, which she has maintained to this day, for which she certainly gets my respect, regardless of my somewhat multifaceted opinions of the institution of the monarchy and its effect upon society (some good, some bad imo).
Anyway, particularly striking to me is that how in this, the Queen is almost the polar opposite of our lamentable Prime Minister, who desperately wanted to be Prime Minister and who responded with an endlessly unchanging lack of integrity or sense of duty once he acquired the role, and has brought nothing shame and atrophy to his Office of State and political culture in general.

Hearty agreement in all particulars.

Totally agree with you. I think that many people will have made the same comparison.
I'm excited that I'll be making my 8th visit to the UK in a few weeks, my first trip since Covid.

A sense of duty is an attribute from her generation which sadly was not passed on to those that followed. A good example of this is her own family.

No, I'm vaccinated and Covid free on all tests! Looking forward to visiting the southern part of the island this time (Canterbury, Portsmouth, Devon, Dartmoor, Cornwall, etc.)

Don't forget Somerset and Wiltshire! Stunning countryside and many famous places to visit; Salisbury/Bath/Wells/Glastonbury/Stonehenge/Cheddar Gorge........

This is too broad a generalization. There have been people with a sense of duty and people without in every era. There are many young people today who exhibit a sense of duty.

A generalization yes, but broad? Do we feel duty, duty for what, our country or the greater good? Maybe we have to be tested as the people in Ukraine. I see a sense of duty there.

Hope you have a great time. :)
I watched a few moments of the parade earlier, and it was lovely being reminded of the once omnipresent Morris Minor (car), as a whole host of them rolled up The Mall. We never had one, I come from a family of four children, a bit much for the unassuming MM (although there were 4-door saloon versions, but the MM wasn't really my father's style), but no other car summons up my childhood years quite so vividly, and I feel a great affection for its unassuming and somehow terribly English form.
I also found the Queen's brief appearance later on BH balcony to applause and a rousing God Save the Queen rather touching, which surprised me a bit. All the flag-waving stuff doesn't usually do anything for me, but there was something about the fragility of this small and (in a way) solitary figure, confronted by a robust and earnest mass of people filling The Mall and beyond, and expressing what seemed a genuine love, that struck me.

I love the Morris Minor. I remember my mother (who didn't learn to drive until she was in her 40s) driving a yellow convertible MM (as driven by Noddy - see below).
Jubilee Street party in our road today (my wife, posted with her permission, third from right):
