Bought this cd used a few days ago and saved a few dollars:

However, when opening up the case to listen to the Mahler music, I saw what looked like a gigantic booger on the sleeve notes.
I must say, I was a little disappointed/upset.
Has this ever happened to you when buying used discs?

Every once in a while I run into a bad disc, or missing pins on the case, or minor damage to the booklet. It's relatively uncommon, and most of the time I have found used CDs well worth the slight risk, especially if you buy from a seller with a good rating on Amazon or eBay.
I am such a germaphobe, I would have thrown it away... I generally do shy away from used discs. On occasion, there are no other options, so I repress my usual fears and bite the bullet. So far, no boogers. :o
No boogers, but I have gotten one or two booklets that seem to have barely survived a hurricane.
It's sometimes amazing to see how people have maltreated there CD's - and yours if you lend something to them (but that is another subject, already covered before).
I almost never buy used, unless there's no other option and I want the item real bad.
Then I buy only items with a condition indicated as "like new" - in most instances those have in fact never been used, but just aren't sealed or have minor shelf wear from long term storage.

CD's are washable, you know. Just dump them in a sinkful of soapy water (antibacterial, of course 8)) and give 'em a thorough washing!
Wouldn't recommend it for booklets, though. Could try rubbing alcohol - it dries quick!.

Just wipe it up and enjoy the disc. Sounds like a small matter to me.
Mahler just brings that out in people.

Great response. Isn't Mr. Monk the guy who uses a bar of soap only once and then throws it away?

That's the guy. It's one of the few TV shows I get to see with any regularity and I really enjoy it.
No, I never buy second-hand CDs.
BTW excuse my ignorance, what is a booger? Some insect I suppose.
