Title: Richard Egarr has an extended illness
Post by: Brian on July 11, 2022, 07:26:18 AM
Just got a press release from the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra saying that Egarr will not join them on an upcoming concert tour due to an ongoing medical issue. Even more ominously, they are immediately appointing an assistant conductor, David Belkovski, in case Egarr is unable to return. They did not have an assistant conductor before. Belkovski is a harpsichordist and former student of Egarr's.

Looking around the internet, I don't see any other information about Egarr's condition. Hope he is okay.

A friend of mine had got tickets to hear Byrd and Tallis in a concert in the Ryedale Festival, but was informed last-minute of Richard's illness so heard David Belkovski playing Couperin instead. She did enjoy it, though.

Sorry to hear that it's a long-term illness & hope Richard can make good progress. I love his playing.
