Title: Requiem by Nino Rota premiere
Post by: Roy Bland on October 30, 2023, 06:12:11 PM

Nino Rota was only twelve years old when, in 1923, he composed the Requiem Mass for choir and organ dedicated to the memory of his father. A prodigious composition, which remained unperformed for an entire century and which last October 8 was lifted from silence for a world premiere performance conducted by the American Jonathan Hirsh and hosted by the Cathedral of Bari as part of the thirteenth edition of Notti Sacre. A unique event, which recorded an enormous success with the public which that evening gave back the image of a packed cathedral and which Trm Network will broadcast exclusively starting from 5pm. This is a way to fully retrace a historic evening for music and the city of Bari itself and relive the emotion of a performance which saw the participation of the young organist Annarosa Partipilo and five city choirs directed and trained by the maestro Sabino Manzo. A Requiem with a complex composition, so much so that it can be described as the score of a Rota-non-Rota, intricate and unpredictable due to the young age of its composer, but at the same time already with enormous musical and expressive maturity. A concert of great solemnity, to be seen again in all its intensity on TRM.

That is crazy that a 12 year old could create something like this!
