Title: Artist photography
Post by: Henk on December 20, 2023, 11:26:59 AM
Great photograph of John Scofield. Photograph's of jazz artists show so well who dedicated they are to their instrument and to making music. Post your favourite jazz artist photography here. A hall of fame thread.

Life magazine photographer, Charles Peterson, took this and many others of a jam session in New York City, 1939, that didn't make it into the article but, boy, what a capture. It's one of my favorites capturing a young Bille (Holiday) and I spot (what looks like) Hot Lips Page behind the piano. Not sure who the other musicians are, though. Maybe someone here can correctly identify all the players (click pic).

The guy to Billie's right holding the drink looks like Eddie Condon.

I subsequently invoked Google Images, and you can find more IDs at (scroll down quite a ways)

(Eddie Condon is correct, a couple of people are more or less impossible to guess)
