Title: Two members of the Kronos Quartet to retire
Post by: brewski on March 05, 2024, 01:12:18 PM
After over 45 years with the group, violinist John Sherba and violist Hank Dutt are retiring as members of the Kronos Quartet. Quite a run, to say the least.

The trippy thing is, I know the new violinist. And no, I don't for a minute believe that they'll play my music.

Here are some of my favorite Kronos Q recordings:

The ensemble will certainly end up with a different sound if they replace half of the quartet at once.  Hopefully I'll like that sound too (and they won't immediately go out of print, THANKS NONESUCH!).

I'm reminded of Mark E. Smith saying "If it's me and your mum on bongos it's The Fall"
