Hello All,
Most of you will remember me as Mirror Image, but I decided to come back after some messaging back-and-forth with SymphonicAddict on another forum. I was also encouraged by Lisztianwagner to come back.
For those that loathe the sight of me, I hope we can let bygones be bygones and look ahead to the future. Life's too short to hold grudges, so let's bury the hatchet and start over.
Great to see you're back on GMG, John!
So glad you're back! As always, looking forward to your posts!
Welcome back John! I enjoyed following your exploration of classical music, it's interesting and encouraging to see how one's tastes can gradually widen 8) .
Welcome back John, looking forward to your contributions.

I for one always enjoyed your insights and passion so welcome back. And if we always all agreed wouldn't the world be a dull place (DON'T agree!!!! ;) )
Welcome back, John! I knew you would return eventually. As you can see, you've been missed by some of us.
Glad to see you back!
A warm welcome from me too. :) You know, GMG isn't the same without you.
Thank you all for the warm reception! I'm probably not going to post as much as I did in the past, but I'll at least try to post fairly regularly.
Good to hear from you again, John! :)

Hello again, John!
Well, this forum has changed and not for the better. I'm going back to the other forum. Bon voyage.

Oh, he didn't quite last twelve hours! Was it something someone said? ::)

And there were so many warm welcomes in this thread, too.

Not enough laudatory replies on this thread? Oh well, carry on.

Dang! Even
I have lasted longer than that!!
Do you get more likes on TC? I signed up a while ago out of curiosity when there was some discussion of the most prolific poster there but never actually posted anything myself.

It seems that MI has not changed for the better either.

I'm also registered but non-participating there. TC is fine, but I find the format non-ideal because it is divided into far to many sub-boards, which makes it hard for me to keep track of what is being discussed.
And
@kyjo missed him completely.
Glad I missed it.

The real problem (besides the ads) is that despite too many sub-boards 80% or so is still in the main board and the mods usually don't sort these threads into the subboards, probably because this would hurt traffic.

I would expect someone who once called himself 'Mirror Image' to be more reflective, rather than just reflexive.

Indeed. He seems to have wished himself
Bon voyage. I mean: we're all staying ....

He seems to subscribe to the philosophy that "the universe is a dream I am having." When he leaves us, our existence ceases. I am starting to feel my existence becoming tenuous. :)

Same. I've had an account there for a decade or more. But yeah hard to navigate, and at least at the time I thought it was too cliquey.

It has heavier traffic, so I'd say posts typically get more "likes" there than here. It's pretty sad that some people need "likes" to feel validated.

It amused me to click like on your post! ;D

Haha, well, they don't define my life but I do appreciate them--mainly knowing I might have helped someone.

They do cause a little dopamine infusion. That's what the social media economy is built on.
:)

It's too long to type and paste here, but if you have a copy of Sense and Sensibility handy, read the opening of Volume 3, Chapter 14.
I may have an inkling about why John left so unexpectedly --- but his action was hugely disrespectful towards all those who gave him such a warm welcome back and expressed delight at his return. Almost makes me regret that I was one of them.

Did someone step on his toes or did he take the step by himself?

I believe the latter to be the case.
Sorry to have missed MI as well. Is this just a GMG trait or classical music fans in general where they enjoy clucking away like some old hens. There is a human on the other end of the screen not ChatGPT. Now the second time I've noticed that after my posts about getting Bachtoven his account back.
Yes I see the irony of my post but I am going to call it as I see it.
@Florestan - your inbox is full.
just curious how many times he's been banned from TC? It seems under at least two identities anyway and I wonder what's his latest. But I know nothing about all this, being relatively new to both forums so there is a limit to my curiosity. Generally I simply avoid people who are persistently rude -- emphasis on persistently as almost anyone can let an unguarded remark slip out occasionally in a fit of passion-- I've been guilty of that myself. :-[
Tbh, I'm at a loss to understand how anyone could prefer TC over this community. While I've registered and posted there, it's probably been a year or so since I've paid them a visit.
But to each his own, and if his friends can find him there that's fine. No harm comes to anyone here as a result. 8)

He was also (temporarily) banned at least once from the Steve Hoffman forum.
don't know that one, I'm afraid. I guess just about everyone's at least heard of Talk Classical, simply because it's the biggest (afaik). That's not at all necessarily the same as being the best.
Let us please not talk about MI like this when he can't respond. Since this was his re-introduction thread and he is now gone, I'm going to go ahead and lock the thread.
