Title: RIP James Earl Jones

Was sorry to hear about the death of 'The Voice of Darth Vader' albeit at an advanced age. I also liked his performance as the villain in the original 'Conan the Barbarian' film (I especially liked the scene where he transforms into a snake). He also narrated Copland's 'Lincoln Portrait'.
A fine actor.

A fine version - thanks for posting. A nice tribute to JEJ.

Sad news.

When I think of JEJ I do not think of his film credits, especially Star Wars or Conan the Barbarian.  It was his excellent Shakespearian roles in Othello, Merchant of Venice, Coriolanus, King Lear, among others.  His performance in The Iceman Cometh and The Great White Hope were also excellent.

Regarding his film work, Field of Dreams and Cry, the Beloved Country - but I think of him primarily as a stage actor, since, for me, that is where he did his best work and realized his most important roles.

Yes, an excellent point. Sadly I never had the opportunity to see him on stage.

Sad, sad! In addition to Darth Vader I remember well also his role in Dr. Strangelove.

"Hey, what about Major Kong?"

Mr Jones not only had the most sinister voice in movie history, but also the most sinister haircut.
