I'm new to this forum and look forward to seeing other members' music and comments. To begin with I thought I would post a short composition of mine, based on a Russian folk melody which has become something of an obsession with me; I've used it as the basis of several short compositions or parts of larger works. This is the version I'm most satisfied with. Whatever merits my version may have or lack, I really think that the original melody is one of the most beautiful ever created. And aside from its beauty, I find it of technical interest in the way its combination of non-standard meters seamlessly supports the melodic line.

Very nice work. It's very short, which is not necessarily bad, of course. Apart from the opening, once you set the cello to playing
pizz. you don't have it bow again for the rest of the piece, a charming miniature which is nice enough that I should really like a bit more of it. What do you think about extending or expanding the piece a bit, with passages in which both the viola and cello use the bow?
