This is a very partial list. There are too many substantial names missing like Robert Carsen, Laurent Pelly, Pierre Audi, Andrei Serban, Jürgen Flimm, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Graham Vick, Willy Decker, Giancarlo del Monaco, Herbert Wernicke, David Pountney, Peter Konwitschny etc.
I would vote for: David McVicar, Laurent Pelly, Pierre Audi.
T.C, you are right of course, but I don't know how many can I add to the poll. :-\ Perhaps it was not a good idea to create a poll out of this subject - people could just list their favourites. Like arias there are too many directors from which to vote.

A difficult question to answer Siedler. All I can say is that I have trouble with operas under Kupfer's direction- never quite understood his "angle" on many operas especially Wagner's Der Fliegende Hollander. Anybody else have a problem with Kupfer's directing operas?? I do realize that the man has talent, just one that escapes me ???
