Title: Bugs
Post by: Mozart on March 04, 2008, 09:31:49 PM
How can you keep bugs out of your house? I hate bugs...My reaction to seeing one makes my jump like a scared girl and then I want to kill them. A spider just crawled on my arm, which to me is a nightmare. I begin seeing things and feeling really itchy and I can't help thinking they are everywhere. I know they don't intend to hurt me, but something about them really upsets me. How can I keep them out? Horrible...I ran to get some tissues to kill it...went to where I brushed it off and then it crawled on my slippers and almost up my leg...I doubt I can ever sit in this couch thing again...

We had an electronic gizmo, plug it in and it seemed to keep bugs away. It transmitted a signal that the bugs did not like. It certainly worked, though the bugs we used to get did not include cockroaches. So if you suffer from them, I don't know if such a device would work. We don't seem to need it in the new place, so I can't give you any manufacturer details.

Mike, you could also give useful and efficient (?) tips how to kill tics with a shoe...  :D

Oh, yes....like a good boy scout; I always carry a spare shoe in my back pocket. In Uganda I almost had a fit when I found enormous roaches in my suitcase. We had stuff called Doom to spray, but Ithink I probably gave myself some long term fatal illness using it, as it seemed to need about half a tin to deal with these roaches.

I've always wanted one of those electronic things, but I've heard mixed reviews about them. If they can keep mosquitoes and spiders out of my house, then it's totally worth it. Thank goodness I've never seen a cockroach, it might keep me up for weeks. Has anyone used one of them?

Hmm, you could be suffering from arachnafobia. You can get treatment/counseling for that.  :o ::)

There's nothing wrong with "bugs" - most spiders are basically harmless - an infestation with roaches etc. is of course a real problem and should  be treated by professionals.

Catch housespiders : put a glass over them, slide a paper under it et voilĂ  : go outside and release the animal. Spiders will catch flies and mosquitos for you.

My mother won't kill spiders in her house because she says they bring money in your home. Haha!

I don't fear spiders harming me, I fear spiders crawling on me like the one today did. I've just never liked bugs, they bug! About 4 years ago, I woke up to my room being invaded by ants. The walls were covered with them, my bed thing covered with them...And maybe when I was asleep some when up my nose and into my brain...Or in my mouth and out my butt...Also what about those beetles that make really loud noises? Someone told me that the average human swallows 3 spiders a year in their sleep...I hope thats not true, I don't wanna eat any.

Mosquitos are east for me to kill now. I just have to trap them near a window. They like to hang out on the...whats the word near the windows? Curtains? I can't think of the name but then I can just wrap it around them and smush them. Its especially nice to kill a mosquito because they just bug and bug you until they die. If a mosquito is in my room while I'm sleeping, the sound it makes as it flies near my ear is enough to wake me up.

the flying ones? I had one fly right on my mouth when I was trying to fall asleep once.
Before, in my old house, there was a period of a few years that, whenever it was a certain season (can't remember which), there was always about 3-4 times a week where you'd see a cockroach. I never wanted to go in the bathroom at night or in the morning because there was always one there.

It is a good, solid, oak table. It will not break.

I think it deserved more of a knee slap than a table pound.

You are too weak to move the table. You need to find a helm of +8 strength before you can lift the table.

Sure, some insects are poisonous - but most bugs you come into contact with during your life will be harmless - bites and stings may cause a (temporary) reaction , but all in all : harmless animals. Do buy or loan a good book on insects. They are rather fascinating!

possibly you've seen too many silly B movies  ;D
