Another long awaited poll. Vote for your 10 favorites. I love Beethoven sonatas 0:)
Opera 13, 53, 57, 106, and 111 for me. And I should emphasize that these are my personal favorites; no further value judgment is intended. 8)
I've never thought about it and I don't want to think about it now. ;D

Exactly. Chose
your personal favorites.
No one can say that you are wrong.
The eight with a nickname and the final two.......done.
Despite the fact I have more than ten favourites, my choices would be:
op.26
op.28
op.31/2
op.53
op.90
op.101
op.106
op.109
op.110
op.111

I do too, it could have been 20 easily ;D
Tough call indeed. 2/1, 10/1, 10/3, 27/1, 28, 31/1, 31/3, 109, 110, 111. I think.
My five selections:
op.90
op.106
op.109
op.110
op.111
Further ranking than that I find nearly impossible though I have a weakness for both Les Adieux and The Tempest.
BIG, here is the poll. Only I had select your favorite 10. 0:)
Opp. 10/3, 28, 53, 81a, 90, 101, 106, 109, 110, and 111.
Op. 2, 10, 13, 14, 49, 28, 31, 109, 110, 111 ;D

Damn why didn't I think of that?
Hey, you get to choose more on this poll :D!
op. 27/1
op. 53
op. 57
op. 81a
op. 90
op. 101
op. 106
op. 109
op. 110
op. 111
Minor key sonatas (minus op49) plus Pastoral and the Hammerklavier. Actually, I'm not so sure about Pastoral, but I came up one sonata short >:D
op. 53, op. 57, opp. 109-111
op. 31/2 was almost included, but I thought it was more deserving of the "runner-up" tag.
I voted for
Op 2/3, 26, 28, 53, 57, 81a, 106, 109, 110, 111. - I love all 32

I love all 32
I feel in a similar way, so I do not vote in this poll.
Are you saying you love every sonata equally?

Yes.
Might compare with my friends and family, each of whom I love equally, but in different ways.

I'm not, but I do love them all.
I only had one favorite, so I voted for that one - op 109. No matter how many times I listen to this, I hear it differently. There always seems to be something new. It's brilliantly written. It is probably my favorite instrumental piece ever too. Can you tell I like it?!?! :o
Difficult question. Anyway, my choices were opp. 2/3, 13, 53, 57, 81a, 90, 106, 109, 110, 111.
I was glad to see other votes for op. 2/3. ;)
Op.109, 111 stand proudly above all the rest for me. I think there are plenty of other fabulous sonatas in the 32, but none quite as special.
wonderful... accidentally modified a post again and can't get what I wrote back... never mind.
The opus 106, 111, 110, 109, 53, 57, 10/3, 28, 31/2, 2/3.
All. Most listened to: # 29, 30, 31, 32.
JS
Op. 31/2, 31/3, 53, 57, 90, 101, 106, 109, 110, 111
OP. 2 No. 1,2,3
Pathetique
Moonlight
Op. 49 No. 1,2
Appassionata
Waldstein
Les Adieux
How many people don't actually know them by opus number, just by the numerical order? :D
No.30 as others have said is one of his best, such a fine conclusion to it really.
Of the early ones I've always had a soft spot for No2, I think I remember reading that someone had wrote a short story in some way around it as well. I like consistency and it has fine melodic ideas throughout, a rather fine slow movement too.
Of the middle period ones no15 I think made a lasting impression, the laid back nostalgic whimsy of it appeals to me.
