But, ah...far better as well, such as invoking the spirit of Tina Turner: actually channeling into the image of one bad, mama-jamm-er-ing Hootchy Goddess Mama of Scrubbed Shylock County, Missouri.

Come on back now, y'hear?

This is one of the best things that walked into my life, I like sopranos but with lots of coloratura....
What a relief...... ;D

Forgive me, Harry, I was being extremely silly.

I have purchased Herbert Von Karajan-led Tristan und Isolde today and will be playing it in the next ten seconds or sooner. I am expecting to hear heart wounding beauty, wide-ranging and passionate...proto-Mahler. From having heard the clips, I know I will not be disappointed.

I'll keep you posted on the inestimable Wagner, dear friend.

Don

In yesterday's mail:

Tchaikovsky Sym. 6/Jarvi/Telarc SACD.
Dvorak Cello Concerto/Wispelwey/Fischer/Channel Classics SACD.

Three of the most beautiful coloratura sopranos, recordings from 1951-1967, the oldest I bought so far.

Erika Koth, makes me almost swoon, with Anneliese a good second.....

All three sing operetta melodies from different composers.....

Harry

And yes she does well in this repertoire too.....
