Still loving every second of Martinu!

That was the first Martinu CD I recall buying, mostly for the Double Concerto after hearing it live.  (It's probably on my top ten list of pieces.)  And DePreist is a very fine conductor who doesn't always seem to get the attention he deserves.

John Luther Adams: Dark Waves (Jaap van Zweden/Netherlands Radio PO, live recording) - Adams is a minimalist, but here seems to have at least something in common with the spectralists.  The score begins very quietly, then gradually grows in volume like a large object coming into view, before slowly disappearing again.

I am now in violent conference with Satan, and I hope it is resolved by the end of the short Magnificat.

I'd have to say yes. There's also another set that is highly recommended by fans of HIP on Brilliant Classics.

I don't go crazy over HIP and will probably look into this Philips set.  I only buy BC when the same work is not available on other labels ...

I wouldn't know why, if the quality of the performance is good?  Besides, BC issues recordings from other labels, including some from labels you regularly buy, like Universal Classics, EMI or Tactus.

BTW the recording by the Van Swieten Trio of the Haydn piano trios is unparalleled IMO. Your loss if you don't want it for other reasons than on account of the performance. Briliant is doing Haydn fans some BIG favours with this and the Baryton trios set.
