Sci-Fi/Horror B Movie based on a Philip K. Dick story - mostly pretty enjoyable :).

Is that Robocop?  :o

Which story is it based on?

Gone baby gone. Ben Affleck's directorial debut. I watched this after watching his follow up film, The Town, which is also set in Boston. I really enjoy both films. I have much more respect for Affleck after these two commendable efforts, and his acting in The Town was totally convincing too. I've got to say I really liked the accent.  :-[

Back to Gone baby gone - great casting aside from Morgan Freeman, who i'll swear was almost cracking a smile when giving the speech about how his kid had gone missing and was later found dead. I didn't find him convincing as his character at all. Solid work from Ed Harris and Casey Affleck, and the actress playing the drug addict mother whose child is kidnapped.

Hey Benji, thats right its Peter Weller from Robocop :) - The Movie is based on a short story called Second Variety, I havent read it myself so not sure which collection it is from :-\.

Bulldog

My wife and I have been watching "Dexter" on Netflix (2 seasons so far).  Both of us are enjoying it very much; that's surprising given that my wife hates violence in film.

No way?! That's one of my very favourite short stories (the collection is called Second Variety as well - volume 2/5 of the collected stories). I thought it would make a good film. I'll put that on my rental list.  ;D

Both the movie and story are pretty cool.  Machines pose as small, defenseless children to be let into human colonies and then they proceed to KILL EVERYONE.  Much more scary than giant metal skeletons ala terminator.  Check it out!! :)

And screw Robocop (aka mr mangled), that's Buckaroo Bonzai man!! ;D

Laugh a-while you can, monkey-boy!

Scarpia

"Lenny," featuring Dustin Hoffman as Lenny Bruce.  What I learned from this film is that Lenny Bruce was a degenerate, and really, really, really not funny.  I found a few clips of Lenny Bruce on YouTube and confirmed that the really Lenny Bruce was also really, really, really, really not funny, just as Dustin Hoffman depicted him.  However, Lenny Bruce is regarded as a breakthrough artist because he came up with the idea that being disgusting and crude is funny.   ???

Fucking hilarious.

George, those are two guys off of Arrested Development, so I'm thinking it has got to be good!  :)

Is this an HBO series?
