Through the Richard Arnell website I came across extracts from Symphony No 2 by Patrick Jonathan, a contemporary British composer whom Arnell evidently mentored. I contacted him as I really liked the short extracts from the Symphony No 2 on the website and he kindly sent me a CD of the complete work which I really enjoyed. The performance has some rough edges but I thoroughly enjoyed the symphony, which is about 45 minutes in duration. Below is the link with the extracts. It is written in a very approachable tonal idiom:

"Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm" (Churchill).

'The test of a work of art is, in the end, our affection for it, not our ability to explain why it is good' (Stanley Kubrick).
